Pass the CHEESE holidaysplease

There’s a lot to be serious about at the moment in the travel industry. The situation we find ourselves in, it is serious. Livelihoods are at risk and our days are uncertain and stressful, there is no denying that. So at holidaysplease we like to try and find a little light in-between it all by just being a little bit silly from time to time.

The holidaysplease BIG CHEESE is designed to bring a bit of a smile to our faces, as well as recognise the great things that have happened through the cracks of these testing times.
The BIG CHEESE of the month comes from nominations from the homeworkers for any supplier that has been extra helpful to them over this period or has perhaps helped them secure a change smoothly so that bookings can be maintained and not cancelled! The lucky winner each month gets to receive the crown of cheese to wear with… pride? And show off to their peers across their social channels.

So pass the cheese please and smile… all together now say:  ‘’HOLIDAYSPLEASE BIG CHEESE’’

“Laughter not only adds to your life, but adds life to your years”

Travel Homeworking Growth

Whilst we continue to positively map our way through the Covid-19 crisis, the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team are finding more and more time to think about Travel Homeworking growth and the development of their businesses over the next 12-18 months.

The market of course remains challenging, and also remains full of opportunity for the Travel Homeworking community.

For example, the sales achieved by the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team in March 2021 exceeded sales from our previous record from March 2019.

Yep, that’s right, we had a record March for sales in a market where many travel companies sadly reported sales being 80-90% down on March 19.

And it is those results, which by the way are not achieved by accident but by shear grit, determination and belief, that underpin our confidence in the future and why we are planning for Travel Homeworking growth right now.

One of our last blog posts before the pandemic hit was all about how you can grow a Travel Homeworking business with us at Holidaysplease.

Give it a read here :- https://travelhomeworking.org/blog/growing-your-travel-homeworking-business-with-holidaysplease/

The choice we made as a business and as a Travel Homeworking team was not just to survive Covid-19, but to be perfectly placed to thrive once the worst of the crisis was behinds us.

The record-breaking results achieved in March by the Holidaysplease Travel Homeworkers were NOT as a result of a large increase in the numbers of homeworkers in the team. They were achieved by increased productivity per homeworker because that has, and always will be our primary goal. To achieve growth and success for the business as a direct result of the individual growth and success of our homeworkers.

With Holidaysplease quality continually trumps quantity!

Travel Homeworking Pandemic Peaks

Heading into the traditional January peak booking period, the Holidaysplease Travel Homeworking team were realistic and at the same time optimistic about the prospects for pandemic peaks!

Did we expect normal booking levels? Of course not. Could we see opportunity? Hell yes!

Were our hopes for pandemic peaks blind optimism, or were there solid reasons to be optimistic?

Well, all the conversations the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team had been having with their customers towards the back end of 2020 indicated that a good number were desperate and determined to have a holiday to look forward to in 2021 or 2022.

And, whilst demand would clearly be lower than usual, with High Street Travel Agents sadly closed due to lockdown and many call-centre sales staff furloughed, there was a great opportunity for homeworkers fully open for business to grab a good slice of the market that was there.

Plus, there are strong messages to convey around why customers should be booking their holidays in January rather than leaving it to see how the land may lie later.

With less airline capacity in the market, many destinations and hotels taking their time to re-open therefore reducing choice and bed-stock, and many customers having already shifted their 2020 holiday to 2021, prices are bound to rise as the market comes back, so booking now to secure the holiday of your choice at the best price was a key motivator for customers.

And the flexible booking terms that many good tour operators have in place mean that customers can book without risk.

So we were confident in our assessment that January pandemic peaks offered a good opportunity for Holidaysplease Homeworkers to be productive, make bookings and earn some much needed commission!

The theory sounded good, so how did the month go then?

Well it wasn’t long before the travel trade press were reporting a pretty bleak picture of a “dead market” and “trading running at 80% down.”

At the same time we were pleased to see that enquiry and booking numbers through the first week or so of January were pretty much in line with our predictions, and as we got further into the month, the numbers just kept on getting better!

By the end of the month the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team had hit 96% of the sales target they had set for the month, and as a business we achieved 77% of the total net commission figure from our record January from 2020. So 23% down in a market reported to be anything from 75-90% down. Not good to be down ever, but in the circumstances a result for the team to be proud of.

Here our some other key January pandemic peaks stats from the Holidaysplease Travel Homeworkers :-

  • Top team member made over 100 bookings and £300k in sales.
  • Homeworkers smashing the £100k mark and setting new personal record months!
  • New homeworkers getting over £40k in sales and earning more in commission in the month than they would from an average travel sales job.
  • Over 4,400 new enquiries generated in the month.
  • Average sale of £5,937 up 19% on January 2020.

So, a normal January? Nope. A productive and rewarding one? Absolutely!

There is no getting away from the fact that trading conditions remain super-challenging and a mountain of uncertainty remains. However, with energy and belief the opportunities are there to be had as the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team ably demonstrated once again through January pandemic peaks!

Travel Homeworking recruitment

After the busiest couple of months ever for the Holidaysplease Travel Homeworking Recruitment team, you could forgive them taking a deep breath to take stock.

But that is not how we roll at Holidaysplease!

Demand is so high to be on our new homeworkers induction in December that the Travel Homeworking Recruitment team are currently hard at work sourcing a bigger space than we would usually use for our inductions!

The sad demise of Thomas Cook resulted in us training record numbers of new homeworkers in October and our largest November induction ever, the December induction is set to be even bigger.

We have always taken the view that recruiting purely for the sake of increasing team numbers is not the right way to grow the Holidaysplease Homeworking team, and this remains the case.

The only people that we invite onto our team are those that we genuinely feel are likely to achieve the goals they have. At the moment it just seems that there are a high number of the kind of great people that we look for at Holidaysplease wanting to come on board.

And the really fantastic news is that many of those ex-Thomas Cook people and other new team members who have joined us over the last couple of months are settling in and making lots of sales!

We have had a record November and the sales made by our October and November newbies have been a major contributory factor in this achievement.

With the opportunity of January just around the corner there are more exciting times to come for Team HP for sure.

Right now, is probably the best time there has ever been to become a Holidaysplease Homeworker.

You’ll find our Travel Homeworking recruiters ready to chat and answer all your questions on 0121 200 5720.

Travel Homeworking : Picking the Best

As the Great British Summer comes to an end, the busy season for the travel industry tends to simmer down. Well, at least this is the case for most travel agencies – not so much for Holidaysplease. Our in-house marketing team make sure we’re always busy, with plenty of free, quality leads and new opportunities to make sales.

Most high-street travel agents have made peace with the fact they’ll have to spend most of their autumn months clearing out old paperwork and watching the clock until closing time, but not Holidaysplease homeworkers. We’re as busy now as we’ve been all year – just another great reason to join our team of travel experts!

Richard Dixon, one of the Holidaysplease founders, who has taken the company from idea to a multi-million-pound, award-winning business, shares some of his secrets to success: “It’s important to select the right people when selling holidays to high-spending customers. Recruit the wrong people and frankly any travel business looking to sell upmarket holidays will fail.”

At Holidaysplease, we only take on board a small percentage of those who apply to join our homeworking team of personal travel experts. People are often surprised by this stat as many Travel Homeworking companies favour employing by numbers rather than finding quality people.

We have always chosen QUALITY vs QUANTITY.

Experience, knowledge and personality are the 3 most important factors our homeworkers must have in order to join us. We recruit sensibly to make sure that our Travel Homeworkers have what it takes to sell successfully to upmarket customers. By doing this, we find that a higher percentage of people that come onboard the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team go on to build the successful Travel Homeworking business to which they aspire.

Although there are times when the number of enquiries being generated surpasses the capacity in our team, we know that in the long term our Homeworking Partnerships will be all the better for it.

If you consider yourself to be an experienced travel agent who is ready to step up your game and make money year round, then get in touch today and you could be part of our exclusive travel-homeworking team!

Travel Homeworking Growth

Reading updates in the travel trade press it is clear that across the industry it is Travel Homeworking growth that has been the bright spot of this years January trading.

Both Travel Weekly and TTG have been running reports of record Travel Homeworking growth from a number of the key Travel Homeworking companies, including Holidaysplease of course!

Whilst trading amongst the high street travel agents appears to have been patchy at best, Travel Homeworkers have shown again that with the right attitude and work ethic records are there to be smashed!!

And the Holidaysplease Homeworking team really did smash it this January!

  • The 2nd week of the month saw us break through the £1million sales mark in a week for the first time to set a new record week which, the following week, we exceeded!
  • And we set a new record for sales in a month achieving sales in excess of £4million for the first time.

Individually many of the Holidaysplease Homeworking team had a super-rewarding January.

  • A third of the team set new personal records for sales in a month.
  • 20% of of the team exceeded the magic £100,000 mark for sales in a month, our greatest number ever.
  • The average sales per homeworker in January was over £50,000 in a month for the first time ever. This is industry leading productivity.

The Holidaysplease Travel Homeworking growth in January was achieved by established and new homeworkers. One team member that joined us in November booked £144,000’s worth of holidays in January, whilst at the same time a homeworker who has been with Holidaysplease for over 10 years and has consistently achieved fantastic results, enjoyed her best month ever with us.

And of course the hard work that brought this success brings incredible rewards. Those 20% of homeworkers who hit the £100k mark for the month will have earned at least £5,000 in the month. Our top homeworker for the month earned commission in excess of £10,000 in January!

In travel terms these earnings are way way above average salaries paid on the high street or in call centres. Whilst always remembering that every single penny earned as a travel homeworker is hard-earned, lets also remember that these top earners are not some super human breed of travel agent ninja’s!

They all come from typical travel backgrounds. High Street travel agents, multiples and independents. Call-centres, Tour Operators both large and specialist.

The only thing that sets them apart is the belief, energy, determination and vision that they bring. That is where the Travel Homeworking growth comes from.

Travel Homeworking Attitude

In Travel Homeworking attitude is the biggest key to success.

The kind of attitude you need to be a super successful travel homeworker is encapsulated perfectly by Henry Ford’s famous quote :

For Travel Homeworkers December and January are months that highlight this perhaps better than at any other time of the year.

Historically December is the slowest sales month of the year for the travel industry, January the busiest. So most people in travel think a lot about January, and not much thought goes into December.

Which of course is a massive mistake!

At Holidaysplease our attitude is always that we can make something happen, no matter the day, week or month. Throughout this December our marketing team have been on it generating fresh leads for the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team. The result : enquiries UP 31% year on year, and sales commission UP 34%!

If you think you can…..

And whilst as a team we have been working hard through December to make sales, we’ve also been thinking about January and taking action to make sure we are ready to go from the off.

The thing is, just because lots of people tend to book holidays in January, no-one in travel should just think that they will. Which is why having the right Travel Homeworking attitude before and throughout peaks is critical.

Success cannot be assumed or taken for granted. It has to be worked hard for and when the opportunity is there, take each one, then push for more!

That is the kind of Travel Homeworking attitude that can bring massive rewards as it did for the top producing Holidaysplease Homeworker last January.

Are you the kind of person that makes stuff happen? Whilst your colleagues are waiting for customers to sit down at their desk, are you jumping up from your seat to welcome them into your shop?

Who is coming up with marketing ideas in the team you work in? Which of your fellow travel sales people are really chasing each sale, haggling with suppliers to get the best deals, following up with customers, and hitting targets?

Is that person you? Then you have the attitude that goes along way to being a super successful Travel Homeworker, and we’d love to chat! 0121 200 5720 gets you straight through to us 🙂

Travel Homeworking Responsible Recruitment

Since being named as TTG’s Top Homeworking Agency of the Year just a few weeks ago, our inhouse Recruitment Exec Agne has been super busy!

New travel homeworking enquiries have been coming in thick and fast the result of which is some great people lined up to join the award winning Holidaysplease Homeworking Team over the next few weeks.

We’ve also had to let down a few people. Why? Well firstly we are fussy. You don’t achieve the Trustpilot customer services ratings we do at Holidaysplease without a great deal of commitment and expertise from our homeworking team. We cannot afford to take on anything but the best.

And secondly, we recruit responsibly. The easy option for us would be to sell the dream and paint an irresistible picture of homeworking being a land filled with milk and honey where the sales just flow in and commission is easily earned.

If only that were true! And as it is not true we don’t take the easy option. We tell it as it is!

Yes, over time by doing the right things consistently well and working with real commitment you can build an amazing homeworking business with Holidaysplease, and many of our team have done so. But it is no easy ride.

When recruiting it is our responsibility to be sure in our minds that every person that we invite to join the Holidaysplease Travel Homeworking team has a realistic chance of achieving the goals and rewards to which they aspire.

If we are not sure that someone can achieve what they want as a Travel Homeworker with Holidaysplease then it would be irresponsible for us to take them on board.

Should you be a travel expert with a strong desire to build a homeworking business of your own with TTG’s Top Homeworking Agency of the Year then please drop Agne a line on agne@holidaysplease.com or call her on 0121 200 5720.

Just don’t expect anything other than an honest, to the point, open conversation!

Holidaysplease Top Homeworking Agency

A year on from Holidaysplease being named as the Top Online Agency, we have now won the prestigious Top Homeworking Agency Award at the TTG Top 50 awards.

I’m sure there were a multitude of reasons why the judges chose Holidaysplease  😉

Announcing Holidaysplease as the winner Mike from Fred Olsen made particular reference to the close relationship we have with our team and the things we do as a company to look after and develop our people at HQ and our homeworkers.

Mike also highlighted the work we have done on our email marketing as part of our unique customer rewards programme which over 10,000 customers have now signed up to.

Each of these customers receives a regular communication from us which is individually tailored to the holiday likes and preferences they have shared with us.

The rewards programme and subsequent tailored emails has resulted in a significant increase in our repeat booking ratios….which of course has put lots of extra pounds in the pockets of the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team!
