Our marketing team ensure our enquiry pool is always full and diverse and our targeted advertising means only people who are genuinely interested in a holiday will place an enquiry.

10. Uncapped Commission

Your earning potential as a Holidaysplease Homeworker is 100% uncapped meaning many of our team regularly achieve an income far in excess what they have previously been able to working in a High Street Travel Agency or Travel Call-Centre. Generally, home-working opportunities reward homeworkers with 20-60% of the net commission that is earned on every booking made.

Travel Homeworking Research

In June 2003 Holidaysplease recruited our first travel homeworker, Ruth from Watford. She’s still with us today. That’s probably because prior to joining both Ruth and I were thorough in our Travel Homeworking Research.

12 years ago Travel Homeworking was very much in it’s infancy with just a handful of Travel Homeworking companies for prospective travel homeworkers to choose from.

Fast forward to 2015 and there are now many more companies offering Travel Homeworking jobs and opportunities. This should not be much of a surprise when you consider the incredible success that some of the homeworking companies and many individual homeworkers have achieved.

It is also good because it means anyone thinking about travel homeworking in 2015 has a choice. And having choice means it is more likely that the partnership between homeworking company and homeworker will succeed….so long as both parties have done their research thoroughly.

Unfortunately I often find that this is not the case.

The homeworking market in 2015 is busy. Companies large and small, established and new, are all vying for the attention of people considering homeworking. There is no doubt that this often leads to a less than thorough approach to recruitment, and, in extreme cases, complete misrepresentation of the deal and rewards on offer.

After all, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is….

Too Good to Be True

If you speak to a travel homeworking company that promises you the earth and is looking to rush you into joining their team, then I suggest you put the brakes on and take a step back.

At Holidaysplease we have an unflinching belief and confidence in our homeworking proposition. This is backed up of course by the many awards we have won over the last 12 years and the fact that a high proportion of our homeworkers have been with us for a number of years and consistently achieve what they aspire to from the partnership.

So when recruiting we take our time. We don’t pressure people into making a decision. We thoroughly explain how Holidaysplease Homeworkers work via telephone calls and face to face meetings. And we never make false promises. We don’t need to.

My advice to you as a prospective homeworker will always be to think carefully, ask good questions of yourself and the travel homeworking companies you talk to, and be clear in your mind what you need to succeed as a travel homeworker.

Proper research, careful thought, and clear goals generally lead to good decisions. And remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Travel Homeworking : Why Homeworkers Succeed

It’s 06.43am on the final day of a busy January which just so happens to be a Saturday.

One of the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team posts the following comment on Facebook….

“I’ve been up for an hour working from my phone in bed…. not sure if having a smart phone is a good idea lol!!!”

The Homeworker in question has enjoyed a good month. They have sold a lot of holidays and have already earned a hefty chunk of commission.

Many people in her situation would have woken up at 05.43am, glanced at the clock, and rolled over for a well deserved further couple of hours sleep.

Instead our team member, grabbed her phone and got to work!

And her last day of January efforts were rewarded with a sale that earned our Homeworker another £150 in commission.

Within this short tale lies the secret of why Homeworkers succeed and what it takes to reach the top in Travel Homeworking.

Would you have rolled over in bed and grabbed an hour or two more zzzz’s, or would you have reached for your smart phone and looked to make something happen?

Your honest answer will tell you a lot about whether a Travel Homeworking job would be the right career choice for you.

p.s. Personally, I think having a smart phone is definitely a good idea!!

Travel Homeworking : Control (Part 2)

Just a few weeks ago we were talking about Controlling the Controllable’s on the Travel Homeworking blog.

There is no doubt that every Travel Homeworker who aspires to super-success needs to focus their energy and attention on what is within their control rather than worrying about, or even worse, putting energy into anything that they realistically cannot control.

In saying this, a good Travel Homeworker will always be looking to have an influence on an outcome.

This could be by sharing the expertise and experience to help a client decide which holiday to book.

Or it might be getting a Supplier to work harder to come up with the right itinerary or deal for a customer.

And, for sure, every Travel Homeworker can influence themselves. Their mood, their attitude, their thoughts. All these are critical to the results achieved each day, month and year.

Here are some wonderfully insightful words from Seth Godin which address the subject of control and influence far more eloquently than I could ever hope to….

Totally and completely out of my control

Gravity, for example.

I can’t do a thing about gravity. Even if I wanted to move to Jupiter or the moon for a change in gravity, it’s inconceivable that I could.

On the other hand, there are lots of things I can do to control my reaction to gravity. I can take Alexander classes or get in better shape. I can avoid situations where gravity makes me uncomfortable (the trapeze, for example). I can choose to not whine about gravity and its effects.

There are countless forces in our lives that are out of our control. That doesn’t mean we can’t do anything about how they influence our work and our life…

The ability to effectively influence every aspect of Travel Homeworking to achieve individual success as a Travel Homeworker is most definitely an attribute that anyone considering a Travel Homeworking Job should have.

Travel Homeworking : Attitude is Everything

In just a few weeks time we will be celebrating the 10th Birthday of Holidaysplease!

Over the last decade I have spoken to literally 1000’s of people considering Travel Homeworking.

Many of those people thinking about a travel sales job working from home have all the right boxes ticked with regards to industry experience.

But when it comes to the crunch there is just one thing that sets the small number of applicants that we eventually invite to join the Holidaysplease Homeworking Team apart from the rest.

And that one thing is ATTITUDE!

In simple terms, if you have the right attitude then you have a chance of success as a Travel Homeworker. If you have the wrong attitude….you have zero chance!

Attitude on Display at Holidaysplease House!

On the office wall at Holidaysplease House is a quote that I first heard when chatting to one of Europe’s leading Performance Coaches, Jamie Edwards the Founder of Trained Brain.

Jamie had been working with the Manchester United Academy Players at their training ground in Carrington. He recalled talking to one of the United Coaches about what it really took for one of the Academy youngsters to rise through the ranks and make it into the United first team.

The Coach said to Jamie, “You see, talent gets you in this place, attitude keeps you here!

Just think carefully about that line for in it lies the very essence of success across pretty much every walk of life.

Whether you are a gifted footballer, a singer with a naturally beautiful voice, or a travel expert with 20 years of knowledge to call upon, unless you have the attitude in place to fully utilise your talent then you are never going to reach your true potential and become a success.

And the fact that Attitude is Everything was re-enforced to me yet again recently when reading an email I received as part of my membership of Nigel Botterill’s Entrepreneurs Circle.

Nigel’s message in this email was all about reminding readers that “Attitude is Everything” and he finished it by sharing a poem to which he himself refers regularly.

Here is the poem. It’s only short, but immensely powerful, and certainly worth taking on board for anyone seriously considering taking a Travel Homeworking job.

Attitude is Everything

The longer I live, the more I realise

the impact of attitude on life.

It is more important than the past, than education, than money,

than circumstances, than failures, than successes,

than what other people think or say or do.

It is more important than appearance, skills or talent.

It will make or break a company … or a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day

regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past …

… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.

We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have,

and that is our attitude.

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

And so it is with you … we are all in charge of our attitudes.

Travel Homeworking : A Leap of Faith

For most prospective Travel Homeworkers the final decision before taking a Travel Homeworking Job is very much a leap of faith!

Leaving behind what you know and jumping head long into a totally different and new way of working is a big step. There is a good deal to consider, and to have any real chance of  success it is of paramount importance that anyone entering the Travel Homeworking arena is 110% certain that they are doing the right thing and are utterly committed to achieving the result to which they aspire.

Like millions of people around the World, yesterday afternoon I sat glued to the internet as Austrian Skydiver Felix Baumgartner performed one of the most awe-inspiring feats I have ever witnessed.

At over 128,000 feet above the earth (that’s 24 miles or so!), Felix stepped from the relative safety of the tiny capsule in which he had journeyed to this point…..then jumped!

Reaching speeds of nearly 834 miles per hour, Felix rocketed earth bound, at first tumbling out of control before managing to get himself into the usual free fall position, then releasing his parachute and mercifully gliding back down to earth for the softest of landings.

At which point, like me, I’m sure the millions around the World watching let out a huge and collective sigh of relief!

To pull off such an incredible act, Felix clearly needed a massive amount of bottle! He also needed to have a great team around him in which he trusted completely, and the planning of the venture had to be meticulous in the extreme.

And when it came to that final leap, 128,000 feet up, Felix could not afford to be anything other than totally committed and focused on what he was about to do.

Now the consequences of failure when moving from the relative safety of an employed 9-5 job with a guaranteed income, to a self-employed, commission only Travel Homeworking Job are nothing compared to Felix failing yesterday, it’s not life or death after all!

But let’s be clear, it is a big decision that should never be taken lightly.

If you are currently considering becoming a Travel Homeworker then, like Felix, you need to get your planning right! You need to make sure that you are going to have the right team behind you. And when you do finally take your very own leap of faith, you have to be unreservedly committed to making it a successful venture!

Anything less and you may find yourself crashing back down to earth a little less comfortably than Felix did yesterday afternoon!

p.s. Click through to discover all about the Holidaysplease Homeworker commission structure. Whilst the nature of a commission only arrangement means that the income you achieve may not be guaranteed, what it does mean is that your earning potential is uncapped! And it is fair to say that many established Travel Homeworkers achieve an income far in excess of what they were limited to earning on the High Street or in a Travel Call-Centre.

Travel Homeworking : Think Jackie

A Travel Homeworking Job can certainly be extremely rewarding.

The top Holidaysplease Travel Homeworker earned £4,420 last month! There aren’t too many travel sales jobs that provide even the best travel experts with the opportunity to achieve such an income!

However, reward does not come without massive effort. Behind every large commission payment you will find a Homeworker that has consistently given their all.

I recently heard a story about a lady called Jackie Cobell which highlights perfectly to any person considering a career in Travel Homeworking what will be required to stand a chance of success.

You probably haven’t heard of Jackie, I certainly hadn’t. Yet we should all know and take inspiration from her! This 56 year old foster mum is the epitome of determination and drive to achieve a goal.

The next time you are considering pulling the plug on a project, or giving up on a task…..THINK JACKIE!

Here’s why….

On 24 July 2010, Jackie set off from Dover to swim the English Channel to Calais. A distance of around 24 miles. The fastest complete the swim in 7-8 hours. On average, those who complete this incredible feat of endurance take between 10-14.

It took Jackie 28 hours 44 minutes. Just think about that! Nearly 29 hours swimming in the cold, choppy waters of the busiest sea-lane in the World.

How come it took Jackie so long? Had she not trained hard enough? Was her technique lacking?

Jackie's Route Across the Channel

No…..Jackie took so long because instead of swimming in the relatively straight line that most swimmers are able to maintain, she weaved up and down the Channel several times therefore adding a great many more miles than were necessary to get the job done!

But Jackie DID NOT quit! She had set her goal…..and NOTHING was going to stop her achieving it. Jackie may have wavered off course on numerous occasions. The obstacles in her way were many and great. The doubts in her mind must have been enormous at times.

However, Jackie believed in her ability. Saw the task through and got the result she desired and deserved.

So, next time you are trying something for the first time in your work life that is maybe a little tougher than you expected, or has not delivered the immediate result you anticipated….DO NOT take the easy option and give up on it.

To get the job done, every successful Travel Homeworker may need to change direction a few times. Those that succeed are the ones that stay resolute in their belief and determination and they are the ones who reap the massive rewards on offer.

Travel Homeworkers Learn from Each Other

A Travel Homeworking job is not necessarily about being an individual.

Yes Travel Homeworkers work on their own from home, but any credible Travel Homeworking company will provide a vibrant support structure for their team and encourage their Homeworkers to share the secrets of their success with their Homeworking peers.

Ask any successful person from any walk of life to talk about their success and very often you will hear people talk about always wanting to get better by learning from others whom they admire.

At Holidaysplease we recognise the power of sharing success so at our recent annual Homeworkers Get Together we organised a session that ended up being one of the best sessions we have ever had at one of our gatherings!

We created a panel made up of four of the most successful Holidaysplease Homeworkers of 2012. The key thing in selecting each member of our panel was that they all go about their work differently and have achieved tremendous levels of sales in totally dissimilar ways.

Next we got our good friend Phil Jones to come along and host the session. Phil quizzed each member of the panel on all aspects of how they go about their work on a daily basis, their goals, challenges and achievements. Phil also provided some invaluable insights of his own along the way.

Phil Jones hosts the Holidaysplease Homeworker Panel

The discussion threw up a whole bucket load of gems for the remainder of the team to consider, take away and implement. At the same time there were some fantastic thoughts shared “from the floor” as well.

All in all it was a really worthwhile hour!

Now for obvious reasons I’m not going to go into any details about the secrets shared by our Homeworkers Panel, but what I can do is give you an idea of the diversity that we encourage on the Holidaysplease Team by telling you a little bit about each one of them….

Nichola : Consistently our top performing sales person. Joined Holidaysplease in June 2009 and has sold £2.4 million worth of holidays in that time and is on target to hit £1 million in sales for 2012. Nichola mainly works on enquiries generated by the Holidaysplease central marketing team.

Susan : Our top newbie in the last 12 months. In her first year Susan achieved sales of £406k of which 20% came from customers she generated herself which is excellent as Susan came to us with a zero client bank!

Philip : A proper old school Travel Agent, Philip joined us in 2007. He has been in the business for 40 years and has built his business by providing people in his own locality with an outstanding and very personal customer service. Over 80% of Philip’s sales come from his own clients and recommendations. He has also focused attention on the lucrative Wedding Market and invested in a smart stand which he puts to good use at Wedding Fayres that he attends regularly.

Paula : Been with Holidaysplease for 26 months and has just gone over the £1m in sales mark. In the last 12 months Paula has exceeded £500k in sales 35% of which are to one hotel that she markets online under the Holidaysplease web umbrella. In an incredibly competitive market place Paula wins by combining an encyclopedic knowledge of the product she promotes with incredible passion and a tremendous work ethic.

So you see, Holidaysplease is a far from one shoe fits all type organisation! Our Travel Homeworking Team is made up of all kinds of travel experts going about their work in some amazingly diverse ways. The common theme for many of them of course is the success that they are achieving as Holidaysplease Homeworkers.

And it delights me immensely that those that are successful on our team are so happy to share and support their fellow Holidaysplease Homeworkers in their quest to achieve what they have set out to achieve as members of our award winning team.
