”At ABTA we believe that travel and tourism is a powerful force for good: creating economic and social value, sustaining jobs, supporting businesses and boosting inward investment not only for destinations where many livelihoods depend on tourism, but also here in the UK.

At Holidaysplease we couldn’t agree more, yet of course recognise that the travel industry has some work to do to balance out our carbon footprints and upon tackling this, we have pledged to make 2023 our most green yet! We are proud to have kicked off the year by achieving Silver Status in the First Mile programme – an initiative that invites businesses to reduce their carbon impact with their award-winning range of recycling, waste management, and circular economy services. https://thefirstmile.co.uk/ .

We have also taken the plunge to go paperless (emailing all docs instead of posting), have exciting plans to plant a number of trees in 2023 and now allow many of the head office staff to work from home, therefore reducing our carbon footprint further!

The Sales and Support team shared: ‘’We are now also very conscious to use suppliers that are promoting responsible tourism… and any other ideas we may have. Our new and exciting hub highlights to our agents which suppliers are the most sustainable.’’

Cat Reeves, Brand and Business Growth Executive says: ‘’The industry has a responsibility to do what we can do balance out our carbon footprint. Even the smallest things such as using biodegradable packaging for our reward scheme gifts and shifting our focus on social media to promoting local suppliers and those most ethical and sustainable all counts towards the bigger picture ‘’.

The holidaysplease culture is a caring one and that includes preserving our beautiful planet for the next generations.

We are looking for experienced homeworking travel agents to join our team. Email: joinus@holidaysplease.com to find out more.
